Is "business" a negative term when it comes to art?

A lot of us in the creative industries want to think of our art as somehow separate from the "dollar-chasing" side of a business. It feels like a betrayal to talk about money matters and art in the same sentence.

But what if we turn around that mindset?

Art and Business

Treating it like a business is actually treating your art with respect and value. You advance your art through business. You're trying to distribute your creative expression out to the world and to your fans or followers, whether it's a live performance, a novel, a film, or any other art form. Business empowers your art!

It is not contradictory to treat art as a business.
